The future king has stated that "transformation is a key goal – change for the good."
In one of his most personal interviews yet, the Prince of Wales explained his vision for the crown.
"I want to question things more," he told Eugene Levy at Windsor Castle.
The prince commented: "I aspire to foster an environment that my offspring will admire, a realm and a role that positively influences society."
Parenting Amid Public Attention
His eldest son, Prince George, recently marking his twelfth year, is the future monarch.
Prince Louis, aged seven with Princess Charlotte celebrating her tenth birthday.
He mentioned his kids don't use cellphones. And he appeared to suggest his aim to prevent a recurrence of experiences he and his brother experienced during childhood – perhaps referring to paparazzi attention that also plagued their mother.
"They wanted every bit of detail they could absorb, their presence was omnipresent," the prince described the voracious media from his childhood.
"If such interference is permitted, the damage it can do to your family life is a situation I swore to prevent," he affirmed.
Balancing Innovation with Heritage
About his reform plans, he articulated: "I welcome and relish transformation – I'm not afraid of it. That aspect energizes me, the opportunity to introduce improvements."
William specified: "Not overly radical change, but changes that I think that need to happen."
He added: "Customs should be maintained, convention contributes substantially. But, there's also points where you look at tradition and go: 'Is that still fit for purpose today?"
"Is that still the right thing to do? Are we still doing and having the most impact we could be having?'"
Viewpoint Regarding Monarchical Role
When asked regarding contemplation of kingship, he answered: "Morning reflections don't include this, since authenticity and selfhood guides my conduct."
"Subsequently, you may assign various titles and positions that are associated with the role, but if I'm not true to myself, and I'm not true to what I stand for and believe in – then it doesn't really matter who you are," the prince asserted.
"I approach my duties with gravity but it's important, like I said to you earlier, avoid being dominated by them – instead master them," the prince summarized.
