Fall Classic Game 7 Draws 51 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The exciting 11-inning matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a combined over 50 million watchers in the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this is the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday epic contest averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 final game between the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English program in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match series drew 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership increases for two straight years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total US viewership reached 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and the network’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
